Counseling for Emotional Eating

What is Emotional Eating?

Emotional eating occurs when food is used to cope with emotions. While emotional eating happens in response to both positive and negative emotions, it tends to occur more often in response to negative emotions, like when you’re feeling upset or stressed. Food usually only provides temporary relief for these emotions and is followed by feelings of guilt or distress.

How We Can Help

Our dietitians will work with you to find a balance and engage in more mindful eating. Mindful eating is an important concept that can help aid in a more attuned relationship with food, as it involves being fully present and experiencing what you are eating. We will also collaborate with your therapist to find coping strategies outside of food.
